Chihuly Glass at the Borgata

As a tease I showed the photos above in my Saturday post asking if anyone could guess what they were. Quite a few commenters knew they were works by the glass artist Dale ChihulyDale Chihuly is one of the foremost glass artists, with works in over 200 museum collections worldwide. Chihuly is primarily known for moving blown glass into the realm of large-scale contemporary art glass sculptures.

(All photos will enlarge if clicked on once and then again when they open on a new page.)

The examples I showed are located in the Borgata Hotel and Casino located at 1 Borgata Way, Atlantic City, New Jersey. This forty story hotel which opened in 2003 contains l2,000 guest rooms and suites. It hosts an assortment of fine dining restaurants, including the Old Homestead Steakhouse, Bobby Flay Steak, SeaBlue, Wolfgang Puck American Grille, Izakaya and Fornelletto. It also contains a European-style, 54,000-square-foot Spa Toccare, two entertainment theaters that host headline act, 11 specialty boutiques, and a 161,000-square-foot casino floor incorporating 4,100 slot machines and 200 table games.

This beautiful chandelier was located in the "living room" location for hotel guests.

The second picture was an extreme close up of the Chihuly chandelier in the hotel's main entrance lobby.

It is a profusion of beautiful blown glass curlicues!

Glass columns grace both sides of the casino entrance.

Many other beautiful Chihuly chandeliers line the corridors of the hotel.

This walkway planter feature also contained beautiful examples of Chihuly glass.

I really enjoyed looking at all the beautiful Chihuly glass in the Borgata, and I hope you did too!
