I've said it before and I'll say it again, basic bitches love Michael Kors.
I hate Michael Kors. Well, thats a lie, I hate the handbags. I spend a good deal of my day being hit by them, trying to get round them, falling over them and wanting to set fire to them. I hate them. I have found that women have no idea how large their actual handbags are now. Michael Kors is unrelenting in handbag size. You can't move his bags out of the way as they are really stocky.
The most offending part? The bags are dull. I mean really dull. There must have been a memo that went round to girls who like shopping in Oasis, wearing nude lipsticks and wearing leggings as trousers - Michael Kors is THE bag to have. It is nearly always in a tan shade and always held like a weapon.
I don't hate all MK stuff. I love his watches for example. I used to style clothing and I used his clothing. I just hate that awful bucket handbag thing.
Apparently I am not alone in my hatred because, this year, shares in Kors went down by 37%. This figure is from as recent as April 2015. This shift in the clothing is attributed to the younger up market consumer trend for purchasing Kors. Much like the Tommy Hilfiger rush of the 90s and resulting peak of. This problem has also hit Juicy Couture and Coach too.
Once a brand or a bag becomes attainable - it looses the aspirational aspect which means that we no longer want it because we see others with it. Sound demented? Well, it is. Basic bitches walking around with their legging wedgies swinging their Kors bags do not make us want the bag - in fact, they make us want to club them to death with the bag. If I see the bag being swung by a celebrity and can't afford it - I want it more. It's all VERY clever. Case in point, the Alexa. I did not see an Alexa being swung by a basic bitch - in fact it was being swung by cool celebrities and very very lucky people with very generous bank balances. The bag cost too much to be bought by nobodies. It was a clean grand and it made Mulberry a mint. I wanted one so badly. I really wanted one.
A type of bag can attract a type of person too. It can kill a brand, pattern, designer. If the wrong person wears it or the wrong type of people. Think of Burberry check on chavs - not what the designers wanted and it killed it. I would be mortified to be seen carrying Burberry check. Despite the fact that it is a pattern that is years old and has a history beyond people who look like they would stab you for looking at them.
The other side of this is that Kors sells to discount or outlet stores. No one wants to pay massive prices when they can pay a lot less. I can honestly say there is a whole load of those basic bitches who have the bag who did not pay full price for it. They can't have. Their bag says discount and their leggings say Primark.....
Don't even get me started on the hair scrunchies....those things need burning....
