Can we get mad about the pentagrams on the new Meadham Kirchhoff collection for Topshop?

The Meadham Kirchhoff collection for Topshop (yes round two) hit the t'internet yesterday. I'll be posting the images ASAP for ye when I get back from my supervisors tearing me apart. However, I was surprised while viewing it, to note that it is made up of pentagrams.

My first reaction was to get mad. But its a religious symbol I thought! So I forwarded the images on to a few religious Pagan mates of mine to see what they thought. Mixed bag of reactions. I then had a think of it. I cannot get mad. In fact, its not fair.

Topshop and other high street stores have been using the cross for ages now. You can walk into menswear places and buy rosary beads. Religion it seems is fair game for retailers. So the only offense I can take is that the clothing is AWFUL.

Those pants above are from the collection - not a clown's wardrobe. The mixed reactions from my Pagan mates also went along the same lines, some were outraged, some were meh and others were, well.....

So I don't see how anyone can get mad about the pentagram thing until we remove all religious iconography from stores. Which means anything taken from other cultures, other religions and other nations - which also means empty stores.

Inspiration is a good thing but being outright racist or mean is not. I wont be buying anything from this collection but not out of wanting to be awkward or point making.

Blessed be.
